In a recent paper, researchers addressed how digital transformation is constrained by digital infrastructure. The paper presents four mechanisms through which stability versus flexibility in the digital infrastructure constrain both efficiency and innovation over time. The paper also presents counter-strategies for how said constraints may be avoided.
