Erik Campano

Erik Campano is a doctoral researcher writing a dissertation on the ethics of medical artificial intelligence in Institutionen för Informatik at Umeå University. He studied cognitive science and philosophy at Stanford and Oxford, and biomedical sciences at Columbia. His 2019 Master’s thesis in Cognitive Science in Umeå was on the ethics of black box artificial intelligence in emergency medicine, and his 2020 Magister thesis in Human-Computer Interaction in Umeå was on the ethics of online shaming. Erik also manages an online multimedia newsmagazine about Umeå, and had a nine-year career as a journalist at German Public Broadcasting in Bonn, National Public Radio in New York, and Radio France Internationale/France24 Television in Paris.
